Let's take a look at our learning journey so far this year...

What an incredible first term in Year 6! From the very start, the class has shown enthusiasm, resilience, and a fantastic attitude towards learning. We've tackled place value up to 10,000,000 in maths, mastered long division, and developed our setting descriptions in Talk for Writing. Our reading lessons have been filled with drama and discussion, particularly when exploring The Wolves of Willoughby Chase.

One of the highlights of the term was our unforgettable residential trip to Caldecotte, where we braved the Leap of Faith, kayaked, canoed, and enjoyed cosy evenings with hot chocolate and a barbecue. The children demonstrated courage and teamwork throughout, making it an experience to remember!

We've also embraced creativity, experimenting with tone in art, designing 3D models in computing, and delivering engaging presentations for European Day of Languages—though the tzatziki received mixed reviews! In history, we explored evacuation during WWII and the impact of the Blitz, while in Spanish, we built confidence in pronunciation and vocabulary.

Another highlight was our Harvest celebration, where we sang beautifully in assembly and collected donations for MK Food Bank. We've also made fantastic progress in swimming, with many children well on their way to achieving their 25-metre badge.

It's been a brilliant first term, and I’m incredibly proud of all the children’s hard work and enthusiasm. Now it’s time for a well-earned rest—enjoy half-term and have a spooktacular Halloween!

See you all on Tuesday 5th November!

It’s been another action-packed half-term in Year 6! We started with a fantastic web call interview with Chris Mason, BBC political editor, learning all about journalism. We also proudly represented our school at the Coffee Hall Remembrance Parade, with our JLT chair and vice chair laying a wreath.

In English, we explored poetry on Michael Rosen Day before moving on to explanation texts, writing about The Parent Pleaser Machine. We then tackled biographies, finishing with some fantastic independent writing. In Talk for Reading, Holes kept us gripped before we studied Kipling’s The Way Through the Woods.

In maths, we mastered fractions, learning key rules for multiplication and division. Science had us investigating evolution, inheritance, and how peppered moths adapted over time. Geography challenged our perceptions of Africa, while DT saw us cooking up delicious homemade burgers—except the BBQ sauce!

We also enjoyed some big events: a trip to the cinema for Kung Fu Panda 4, mock SATs (with impressive progress since September!), and rehearsals for Carols by Candlelight.

As we wrap up, we’re looking forward to our Christmas disco, fair, and final celebrations. A brilliant term—well done, Year 6!

What a fantastic term we’ve had in Year 6! We’ve been so busy with exciting learning and experiences. In DT, we created impressive clay sculptures inspired by African masks, showing off our incredible artistic skills. In PE, we thought about the importance of healthy choices while making delicious fruit salads.

Our writing has been exceptional—we explored setting descriptions, wrote powerful biographies, crafted poetry, and were truly inspired by Henry V, producing some amazing pieces based on Shakespeare’s work. It was wonderful to celebrate all of this at our Be Our Best event, and we are so proud of what everyone has achieved!

One of the biggest highlights of the term was the pantomime—how lucky we were to have such an amazing performance right here in our school! Laughter and excitement filled the hall, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

A huge shoutout to Year 6 for the incredible effort in our Silent Day fundraiser! Raising over £400 was no easy feat, especially when we had to stay silent during lessons, break, and lunch. It was challenging but so worth it. We’re so proud of the whole class for supporting this cause and showing such dedication to our community.

And just like that, we’re already halfway through the year! Next term will bring even more brilliant learning, including more mock SATs (nothing to worry about—we’ve got this!), new topics to explore, and lots of fun along the way. Well done, Year 6!
